California Vs. Arizona On Illegal Immigration (+ A Steve Poizner Endorsement)
LA and San Francisco are boycotting the eeeeevvvvviiiiilllll people of Arizona, who are obviously worse than the Nazis for giving teeth to the immigration laws the: federal government has on the book but won’t enforce…or something. Long story short, Arizona has pulled out the welcome mat for illegal aliens and liberals are upset and responding as per usual: with lies, demonization, and cries of racism.
Of course, in the kook capitol of North America, Berkeley, they’ve found their own unique way to fight back against Arizona: with hunger strikes and cornstalk dances. No, really:
With the blessings of ceremonial dancers, a group of UC Berkeley students ended a 10-day hunger strike Wednesday while negotiators met with the chancellor over the status of illegal immigrants and student demonstrators.
Soon afterward, students and Chancellor Robert Birgenau announced some modest agreements on undocumented university employees and student discipline.
…Birgenau quickly complied with the protesters’ first demand – to denounce the law. But he balked at their proposals to declare the campus a sanctuary for undocumented immigrants, rehire laid-off janitors and drop disciplinary charges against students who occupied or vandalized buildings last fall to protest rising fees.
Campus officials had met with strikers four times, without results. Birgenau agreed to an in-person meeting Wednesday if the students would call off the strike. They agreed out of concern for their health, said Horacio Corona, a senior and organizer.
The demonstration ended in a display of Berkeley multiculturalism.
One protester blessed his cohorts’ corn cobs, for their connection to Mother Earth. Four dancers dressed as cornstalks, including one of the strikers, twirled and gestured ceremonially to a percussion beat.
It’s worth noting that there is at least one Republican politician in California with the courage to stand against this nonsense. His name is Steve Poizner and he’s running for: governor. Poizner supports Arizona’s immigration law:
“The Los Angeles City Council and other local governments should focus on how they can create jobs and better serve their citizens, rather than trying to score cheap political points by boycotting Arizona. The people of Arizona, through their elected representatives, passed a bold law to address the growing problem of illegal immigration because the federal government has failed to secure our borders. I support this law and their efforts to address the problem.
“As governor, I will aggressively fight illegal immigration by cutting off taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens, using state resources like the California National Guard to secure our borders, and vigorously oppose any form of amnesty at the federal level.”
You may be thinking, “Wow, that sounds great, but Poizner’s way behind Meg Whitman, : isn’t he?” Ah, no.
Meg Whitman, the former CEO of eBay, has spent some $70 million – most of it her own money – only to lose a 50 point lead. She was that far ahead of State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner a few months ago. Now her lead has plummeted to two points.
Whitman leads Poizner 39 percent to 37 percent, with 14 percent undecided in our exclusive Eyewitness News poll. The poll by Survey USA shows a loss of 10 points for Whitman and a gain of 10 for Poizner since our last poll 18 days ago.
The Republican primary is a month away and early voting began on Monday.
Now, I don’t know who the next governor : of California is going to be. California’s a liberal state, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been a horrible governor, and the Left would prefer to see California go the way of Greece rather than take on any tough changes to save the state. But, without question, Steve Poizner is the man conservatives should be backing in that race. Moreover, he may be California’s only hope of getting back on track before the state completely falls to pieces. So, if you’re looking for a candidate who deserves your support,: well : : then,: : : Steve Poizner fits the bill.
