Mercedes-Benz Just DROPPED Foreign Construction Workers From American Auto Plant

This isn’t the first time that Mercedes-Benz has run afoul on foreign workers. They just dropped the importation of foreign workers to build their Vance, Alabama-based auto plant. This follows an unflattering report showing how Mercedes-Benz doesn’t hire Americans. I guess they finally saw the writing on the wall by President Trump. According to CBS News, over the last four years, the car company has brought in foreign constructions workers on B-1 or L-1 visas for their construction jobs at American car manufacturing plants. That’s just offensive.

Approximately 80,000 foreigners a year are brought over to do American jobs at plants like this. That needs to stop. If you are going to build an American plant, use American labor. There are plenty of blue-collar workers that are looking for work that would jump at these jobs. Americans were deliberately passed over in favor of foreign workers. That’s just not acceptable. Mercedes-Benz has since dropped Eisenmann as the contracting firm they use for construction jobs in Alabama to remedy this bad PR move.

From Breitbart:

German car giant Mercedes-Benz dropped the importation of foreign workers to build their Vance, Alabama-based auto plant following a report on how Americans are often left behind by multinational corporations.

In a CBS News investigation, as Breitbart Texas reported, researchers found that over the course of the last four years, foreign workers were brought to the states–either on the B-1 or L-1 visa–to fill construction jobs for the car manufacturing plant.

The L-1 visa is for foreign workers who are employed by a multinational corporation. The workers are allowed to come to the U.S. after working with a corporation abroad for a year. Close to 80,000 foreigners are imported to take jobs that Americans would otherwise do.

CBS researchers spoke with Gerald Greiner, a former manager for German contractor Eisenmann, revealing how foreign workers were imported to take construction jobs that blue-collar American workers could have done locally.

The CBS investigation discovered more than 200 mostly Eastern European, low-wage workers who were brought to the US to perform American construction jobs. I bet the unions are ticked over that. The visas these workers get cost them less than $200 and they can come and go for ten years. CBS’ investigation led them to an apartment complex in Spartanburg, South Carolina where workers from Slovenia and Croatia were being housed by their employer, which was located near BMW’s largest manufacturing plant in the world, built with the help of more than $250 million in tax incentives and subsidies afforded to BMW since 1992.

They take our money and then don’t give us jobs. How is that right or fair? There are four ways for these contractors to get foreign labor here in the US. They can use legal immigrants who come to the US for work; non-immigrants who come to the US on any of the employment-based visa programs available; foreign nationals who are allowed to work legally on Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) – like those given amnesty through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program; and illegal aliens who enter the US mostly through the southern border. All of them are a problem and some of them are illegal. They should stop all of them but the first one. Hire American guys… or get the hell out.
