A Tale of Two Congressmen: Peter King and Keith Ellison

Countermoonbat Congressman Peter King (R-NY) has received the ultimate recommendation in the form of a denunciation by the Islamophiles of the New York Times, a publication that characteristically stands with Historic First Muslim Congresscritter Keith Ellison against anyone with the backbone to face the Islamic enemy within. If the militant moonbats at the Slimes thought they could intimidate the incoming Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee into backing off, they misjudged him:

“I’m absolutely delighted that The New York Times would attack me,” he said in an interview with The Hill. “I have nothing but contempt for them. They should be indicted under the Espionage Act.” …

King’s proposal to hold one of his first hearings on the radicalization of U.S. Muslims and homegrown terrorism has brought a rash of criticism from those who argue it could turn into a McCarthy-esque witch hunt, fueling distrust among Muslim citizens of the government.

Whatever would we do if through insufficient obsequiousness we lost the trust of Muslims? Fortunately not everyone is drinking the Muslim/moonbat alliance Kool-Aid:

Former Democratic New York Mayor Ed Koch disseminated a commentary piece Tuesday wholeheartedly backing King and his hearing, calling it a “sensible act on his part that should be supported by the American public.”

There is plenty of proof, King says, that the U.S. Muslim community has had a spotty record in cooperating with federal authorities on terrorism investigations. For instance, he said, when FBI agents asked parents of 15- or 16-year-old Muslims to cooperate with an investigation into whether Islamic extremists were trying to recruit their children, one imam instructed the parents not to. In another instance, King said a different imam warned the parents of a man who admitted to plotting to bomb New York subways about the investigation.

“This is a politically correct hysteria,” King said. “These are very legitimate hearings.”

King has a longstanding contempt for The New York Times, so his aggressive response comes as no surprise. When he said the newspaper should be tried for espionage, he was referring to an article it published a few years ago about the government’s secret tracking of terrorist financing that relied on cooperation with U.S. and international banks. He said the policy was perfectly legal and effective at the time, but the Times article undercut the program because international banks became less cooperative.

As for the recent ankle-biting by the treasonous Slimes, King says:

“I’m certainly not going to take any political advice or direction from The New York Times. I have more contempt for The New York Times than anything or anyone I can think of.”

Bare Naked Islam explains why Ellison and his allies might worry about a “McCarthy-esque witch hunt”:

Ellison was an official of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG), cited as a Communist Party front organization by the House Committee on Un-American Activities. It remains the U.S. affiliate of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, the old Soviet front. In that capacity, Ellison had been a vocal supporter — and attended a fundraiser for — Sara Jane Olson, a member of the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), an off-shoot of the Weather Underground that is probably best known for kidnapping Patricia Hearst.

Olson served seven years in prison for involvement in the murder of a bank customer and the attempted murder of Los Angeles police officers by bombing their cars. …

An Ellison speech on behalf of Olson, in which he called the terrorist a freedom fighter, has been eliminated from most websites, including one devoted to her legal defense, but a Minneapolis blogger who followed the case saved and posted it. One notices the lavish praise that Ellison bestows not only on Olson, also known as Katherine Soliah, but [on] Bernardine Dohrn, the former leader of the communist terrorist Weather Underground.

Bernardine Dohrn — who invented the “fork salute” in honor of the implement left sticking out of Leno LaBianca’s throat in the aftermath of a visit from the Charles Manson crew — may be known to readers as an old friend of Comrade Obama and, possibly going even further back, the Bitter Half.

Ellison also praised cop-killers Mumia Abu-Jamal, on death row in Pennsylvania, and Joanne Chesimard (aka Assata Shakur), who escaped the U.S. and is now living under the protection of the Castro dictatorship.

You won’t learn all this from reading the New York Times, which can barely bring itself to acknowledge Ellison’s association with rabid Caucasian-hater (and winner of a lifetime achievement award from Obama’s church of 20 years) Louis Farrakhan. The Hamas-supporting radical leftist Ellison is the Muslim/moonbat alliance incarnate. There is nothing the liberal establishment’s flagship publication wouldn’t do to help him in his effort to bring down America from within.

Guess whose side liberal soapbox MSNBC is on.
