Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump confronted an MSNBC reporter while holding a press conference Thursday at the U.S.-Mexico border, shouting him down after he objected to the phrasing of his question.
Host Jose Diaz-Balart, who also works for Telemundo, attempted to ask the real-estate mogul about the controversial comments he made at the outset of his campaign about those who are illegally entering the U.S. from Mexico.
“Mr. Trump, you know 53,000 hispanics turn 18 years of age in this country every month, born in the country of voting age,” Diaz-Balart said. “54 million plus hispanics — many feel that what you said when you said that the people who cross the border are rapists and murderers–.”
Trump interjected.
“No, no, no! We’re talking about illegal immigration and everybody understands that,” Trump said.
The outspoken billionaire then used Diaz-Balart to slam the press.
“And you know what? That’s a typical case. That’s a typical case of the press with misinterpretation. They take a half a sentence, they take a half a sentence, then they take quarter of a sentence and put it all together. It’s a typical thing,” Trump contended.
He added that Telemundo “should be ashamed” of Diaz-Balart’s question, before touting his $500 million lawsuit against Univision.
Diaz-Balart attempted to interject, telling Trump, “I’m not finished with my question.”
Trump, however, had heard enough.
“No, no! You’re finished!” he replied.
Trump missed an opportunity to tell Diaz-Balart he was fired. That would have been even sweeter. I’m tired of seeing the media twist Trump’s words around trying desperately to malign him at every turn. It’s pathetic and evil. By the looks of it, I am far from alone. The Marxist media should be ashamed for trolling Trump. I hope that Trump keeps slamming the press – it’s a winner politically and just damned fun to watch. Watching Donald Trump is the most political entertainment I’ve had in years. He gave a fabulous speech on the border as well and showed how the Hispanic community supports him. He wants to bring jobs back to these people and safety back to their streets. He wants to secure the borders from the cartels, terrorists and criminals. No wonder he’s got Americans following him around like love-sick puppies. I can’t wait for the debates.
