Matt Lauer Breaks Silence – Makes STUNNING Statement Amid Sex Scandal [VIDEO]

Matt Lauer has officially broken his silence and is offering an apology for his “words and actions.” Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to cut it for him. He’s toast. This is a guy who once gave a colleague a sex toy as a present. It included an explicit note about how he wanted to use it on her, which left her mortified. He also made leering comments on video at his female coworkers. He also summoned a different female employee to his office, and then dropped his pants, showing her his penis. After the employee declined to do anything, he reprimanded her for not engaging in a sexual act. Then, according to Variety, he would sometimes quiz female producers about who they’d slept with, offering to trade names. And he loved to engage in a crass quiz game with men and women in the office: “f—, marry, or kill,” in which he would identify the female co-hosts that he’d most like to sleep with. But he’s giving it the old college try on apologizing.

The former longtime “Today” show host issued a statement this morning. “There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions,” Lauer wrote in the statement which was also read on the “Today” show. “To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry. As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC.” Give us a freaking break. Although he’s admitted to some of the allegations, Lauer is also claiming that some of them are untrue or mischaracterized. It’s too late for that. Stick a fork in Lauer… he’s done. “Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly,” Lauer said.

Lauer should be ashamed. And frankly, so should NBC. I read all over the place that for years, NBC has known about Lauer and ignored it. They lied. What a bunch of sanctimonious hypocrites. Katie Couric actually brought up in several interviews that he would pinch her butt. Everyone just laughed it off, like no big deal. Except it was. He was terminated from NBC yesterday after the network says they received a “detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer.” Let me be blunt here… NBC didn’t can Lauer for his behavior. They got rid of him because they knew it would now come out and make them look bad.

Here is Lauer’s full statement:

There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry. As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC.

Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly.

Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full time job. The last two days have forced me to take a very hard look at my own troubling flaws. It’s been humbling. I am blessed to be surrounded by the people I love. I thank them for their patience and grace.

It’s a pathetic and insincere end to a career that was at one time reputable. Why he wasn’t exposed for this long ago, I have no clue. At least three fell yesterday in the media over sexual misconduct allegations. Lauer was one of them. Many more will follow suit. They deserve to be taken down. This guy actually had a lock installed on his office door that he could engage at his desk so he could harass women. Who does that but a predator? Creepy doesn’t begin to describe this guy… he’s sick. Lauer is sorry he got caught and so is NBC.
