The United Nations voted to reject Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move our embassy there. Of course, there is a long history to anti-Israeli beliefs and behavior from the UN, who have all but accepted that Muslims are going to attack Israel and refuse to defend the small country from such barbaric behavior. But Lord help you if Israel defends themselves against attacks, because you’ll be forced to hear about how they are instigating this fight and the ever-present “muh 2-state solution.”
Now the UN has officially approved a resolution that condemns Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the President isn’t terribly pleased with this.
(Side-Note: Why is the UN still based in the United States?)
The vote came down with the majority of the 128-member group voting to condemn Trump’s decision. An additional 35 abstained from the vote, while just 7 others joined the United States and Israel in supporting the American President.
This vote came just after our Ambassador to the United Nations made it clear that we will not be told where we can put our embassies, especially a group of people who have a history of bigotry against the very people we are honoring. I’m sorry, but I’m not going to take their opinion too seriously, given that if the UN had its way, Israel wouldn’t exist and in its place would be the mythical “Palestine.”
Haley also took it upon herself to remind the UN who keeps the lights on.
“We will remember it when we are called upon once again to make the world’s largest contribution to the United Nations,” she noted. “And we will remember when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit.”
She made it clear that the vote “will make a difference on how Americans look at the U.N. and on how we look at countries who disrespect us in the U.N., and this vote will be remembered.”
While many other, smaller, more pathetic countries like Turkey complained that this is “bullying” and that their votes shouldn’t be “for sale,” Haley never attempted to bribe any nation. She simply reminded them that the United States doesn’t have to work for free, especially when we are going to be undermined on a global scale.
