Aussie Athiest Smokes Bible And Koran: Guess Which Religion Has To Call For Restraint

Someone was a busy beaver over the weekend

A BRISBANE-based lawyer and atheist who videoed himself smoking what appeared to be joints made with pages from the Bible and the Koran expects to lose his job at a Queensland university.

In the video, posted on YouTube, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) staffer Alex Stewart compares cigarettes made with pages from the two holy texts.

Interestingly, the video has already been yanked. It often takes a large, concerted effort to get Islamist propaganda yanked from YouTube, but, I guess they didn’t want to risk being put in the cross-hairs of the jihadis.

Anyhow, the QUT had a hissy fit, and Stewart is now on a leave of absence, and expects to be terminated. The good news for him is that he apparently will not face any actions due to the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act, since “blasphemy” has been removed from the criminal code.

He does have a small point

“Who cares? It’s your beliefs that matter. Quite frankly, if you are going to get upset about a book, you’re taking life way too seriously.”

Somewhat correct, as it is your beliefs that matter the most. Funny that has to come from an atheist. Obviously, though, the trappings have meaning to people. Of course, the Christian leaders who were asked about this either did not reply, or said it was stupid, and let’s move on. The other side was a bit different

However the president of the Islamic Association of Australia, Sheik Muhammad Wahid, said while Mr Stewart’s motives were deeply hurtful to Muslims, his future was for the university to decide.

He urged Muslims to turn the other cheek.

“I urge my fellow Muslims to abide by the laws of this country and not take any action which breaks the law,” he said.

Interesting that the religion of peace has to be reminded to be peaceful. And, to wrap up, Stewart may have reason to be worried for his life after this comment

He gave the Bible a seven out of 10 for its burning qualities, and said it was better than the Koran which left him feeling sick.
