BACKLASH: Wisconsin TV Anchor That Criticizes Phil Robertson Gets So Many Complaints NBC Has To Apologize

Christians have been just shrugging their shoulders at insults for so long that people think they can say anything to us and get away with it. For the first time since the Chick-fil-A protests, that’s turning out not to be true and it’s a beautiful thing.

Comments about Phil Robertson and Duck Dynasty landed Wisconsin NBC15’s anchor Christine Bellport in trouble. She made disparaging comments about how he “looked”.

BELLPORT: I mean I’m sorry to say. When you look at the guy, I’m not surprised with the comments he made. You know what I mean? I’m not surprised. And I don’t really know why anyone else is surprised.

SHORTINO: Have you seen the show?

BELLPORT: (spitting sound) No, sorry I spit on you. Absolutely not. I’m not going to waste my time on that.

SHORTINO: It’s actually kind of funny.

BELLPORT: You know, whatever (disdainful smirking face).

She caught such flack for the comments, the station was forced to issue a statement apologizing for her remarks:

…The comments made today on The Morning Show by anchor Christine Bellport regarding the Duck Dynasty story do not reflect the views of NBC 15 or the NBC 15 newsroom. …NBC 15 apologizes for the comments and regrets that Christine offended viewers and Mr. Robertson.

There are Christians being pushed around in this country every day of the year, Christians being discriminated against as part of the Obama administration’s official policy with Obamacare and in the military, and Christians being murdered for their beliefs overseas.

Phil Robertson deserves support and it’s phenomenal that he’s getting it. A lot of other Christians deserve it, too. When this is all over, don’t forget about them. If Christians keep standing up, speaking out, and fighting back, they can do a lot more than save Duck Dynasty and clear a little space for Christians to talk about their beliefs.
