GAME CHANGER: Senate Republicans Introduce Major New Gun Law

The Republican-led U.S. Senate has just introduced a major new gun law that would be a major change in concealed carry laws making one state’s concealed carry license valid in every other state.

This is a big deal for concealed carry license holders because right now the laws are so radically different from one state to another that legal and wholly innocent gun owners risk arrest for no logical reason should they cross state lines with their legal gun.

But the GOP-led Senate wants to put an end to that uncertainty and level the playing field.

The legislation would give concealed carry permit holders the freedom to take their firearms with them almost anywhere they travel in the United States.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) described the functions of the potential law to The Hill:

“This operates more or less like a driver’s license. So, for example, if you have a driver’s license in Texas, you can drive in New York, in Utah and other places, subject to the laws of those states.”

Cornyn emphasized that the bill, should it become law, would help to curb some of the “gotcha moments” where people accidentally cross state lines while in possession of their personal firearms.

This is a good idea.
