At the end of Thursday night’s prime time debate, each of the candidates got 30 seconds to make a closing statement. A few of these were pretty good, but arguably the best was by Dr. Ben Carson. Aside from a good quip by Mike Huckabee, Carson had the funniest joke, too.
Dr. Carson acquitted himself quite well last night. Many expected this debate to show that he was out of his depth, but that did not happen. He appeared just as competent as any up there.
“I’m the only one to separate Siamese twins. The only one to operate on babies while they were still in their mother’s womb. The only one to take out half of a brain, although you would think if you went to Washington that someone had beat me to it. (applause) But I’m very hopeful that I’m not the only one who will pick up the torch of freedom. Because freedom is not free!”
