The Hilarious Moment When Soccer Players Discover Who They are Competing With [Video]

This is an awesome video! It had me laughing and cheering. Brenda Perez is a professional soccer player. I don’t know much about the sport, but the way she plays it is simply elegant. Perez sat for seven hours as a makeup artist turned her into a man. Then she went to play with the boys. They just accepted her as one of the guys. I watched her… she still looked like she had a chest and she walks like a girl, but none of the male players seemed to pick up on that. All they could see is that she royally ripped them playing soccer. She literally danced with the ball and put them to shame. It was magnificent.

From the Daily Mail:

This is the hilarious moment two strapping defenders discover the man who has been running rings round them is actually a woman.

The pair’s jaws drop when pretty Brenda Perez takes off her wig and fake beard as she prepares to take a free-kick after coming on as a substitute and leaving her opponents speechless with her skills.

The footage was filmed as part of an experiment for Spanish TV show El Hormiguero to ‘destroy some of the myths’ around women’s football.

Justin Bieber appeared on the popular show last week after famously walking out of a radio interview earlier in the day and Hollywood actor Will Smith is a regular guest.

Brunette Brenda, a 21-year-old professional footballer, agreed to a seven-hour make-up session to turn herself into Dani Perez and take part in a non-league match in Madrid with 21 other men.

A specialist make-up artist transformed her using a facial mask made out of latex, the beard and wig and gloves to cover up her finger nails.

Only the referee and the manager of the side she played for knew her real identity which as it is still early on in the season in Spain and she turned out for an amateur team used to seeing new faces, was not so much of a problem.

Before long she was setting up goals and nutmegging her opponents all over the park, prompting the rival manager to urge his team: ‘Keep watch on number eight’ before turning to an assistant and admitting: ‘He touches the ball well doesn’t he.’

Her first goal came soon after a series of Maradona-style roulettes which left the few spectators cheering every time she touched the ball and substitutes on the sidelines holding their heads in their hands in disbelief.

Only when she prepared to take a free kick from outside the box towards the end of the game did she reveal her true identity – smashing the ball into the back of the net after letting her hair down and her secret out.

The video was going viral today/yesterday with more than five million views on the Facebook page of El Hormiguero and thousands of views on YouTube.

It was played on the show during an interview with Joaquin Sanchez, a professional footballer who has been capped for Spain 51 times.

Brenda, who was in the audience, then came on stage to show off her football skills once again.

El Hormiguero script writer Jordi Molto said: ‘Women’s football doesn’t have any presence alongside men’s football which receives all the media attention.’

‘Some people might say women haven’t got the same physical capacity or the same strength but this shows the technique can be the same and women and men with a ball at their feet can put on the same spectacle.’

Brenda, who has played for top women’s sides including Valencia, Atletico de Madrid and Espanyol, added: ‘It was an unforgettable experience.’

‘A couple of players were looking at me a bit strangely and I overheard one making the comment: “His beard’s coming off, what’s wrong with him’ but apart from that it went well.”

When she did her free kick at the end, she took off her wig and mask, pulled back her pony tail and made her goal triumphantly. The men were absolutely stunned they had been competing with a woman and had been beaten by one all over the field. The looks on their faces are priceless. This woman owns the sport and puts men to shame. I understand soccer can get pretty rough and that is where she might have a challenge, but no one is better with a ball out there. Spain is lucky to have this talented athlete and she gave these men the shock of their lives.
