Deion Sanders Disses Son on Twitter for Pretend Street Cred

Legendary football great Deion Sanders embarrassed his son not just once, but twice for pretending to be from the hood. Deion Sanders, Jr., tweeted about getting his doughnuts only from the hood, and his dad was right there on Twitter to embarrass him and call him out.

Mashable reports,

The elder Sanders, a former football and baseball player who is an analyst for CBS Sports and the NFL Network, told his son to “stop the hood stuff” and called him a Huxtable with a trust fund.

On Friday, he brought up his son’s “hood” comment again. Clearly, he’s not over it.

Kudos to the elder Sanders for calling his son out on this. Most people from the hood aspire to rise out of it and live in a better area of town. Talking about the hood in adulatory tones is not helping anyone, and it’s certainly not being an appropriate role model. Both Sanders are now in the spotlight and young black men in particular are going to look up to them as examples. Good to see the elder Sanders is still being a good role model to his son.
