Floyd Mayweather: I’m Coming Out of Retirement to Fight UFC Star Connor McGregor

While many observers have totally blown off the idea of a fight being made between arguably the greatest boxer of his generation and the MMA’s featherweight champion, Mayweather appears to have a contrary take on the situation. Say what you want about the man’s past with abuse towards women, or his ‘meekness’. He is an entertainer that recognizes big money events…and this is one of them.

From Metro:

The American retired in May 2015 with a 49-0 record but said he would consider coming back if a fight with McGregor was on the card.

‘If I do fight, it’s only against Conor McGregor … not against nobody else,’ he recently told ESNews.‘Because this matchup is so intriguing. You have (a boxer) against an MMA fighter — one of the best MMA fighters to ever … stand up and do it. He’s a strong fighter, and when I look at his fights, he’s a little faster than I thought he was.’

Mayweather also revealed his team have been planning ahead for the fight in terms of dates and venues for the potential super-fight.

‘I’m pretty sure we’re going to have a master plan to make that fight happen,’ he claimed.‘It hasn’t happened, yet, but we locked down some dates, me and my team, me and Al Haymon, me and Leonard Ellerbe…

If both camps can make this match-up happen, I believe it would blow the very disappointing Paq-man/Mayweather fight out of the water. But that’s a big “if”.

I would pay even more money to see Mayweather actually step into the octagon instead of the ring. But I know that will NEVER happen.
