What God Wants YOU to Know This THANKSGIVING!

What God Wants YOU to Know This THANKSGIVING!

Every year my family has a tradition at Thanksgiving called the five kernels of corn. Each plate gets five kernels of popcorn and we go around the room presenting each kernel as a countdown of gratitude for the past year. Often one of my kernels is dedicated to my gratitude for being born in the United States of America because of the many personal freedoms that I get to practice. Last week I saw the Statue of Liberty which is a symbol of hope for immigrants like my grandparents.

Our Founding Father’s spoke much of our natural rights that come from God. Over the years I’ve learned that governments do not give the people freedom but that freedom is granted from God. While God grants unalienable rights and freedoms to all of His children, governments and men throughout time have worked to take away those rights. The Devil’s plan has always been to frustrate God’s plan for His children by disrupting individuals freedom to choose for themselves.

I’ve often wondered about people in countries or times where personal freedoms are limited under tyrannical rule. How can they foster their faith without freedom to practice it? This thought is something I’ve discussed with my son, to prepare him to live in whatever world he finds himself in as an adult but not to be of the world. This thought always comes to me; no matter where we are or what conditions in life limit us- we always have the inner freedom to believe and have faith in our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ.

While the world may at times have the power to bind our physical hands, we will always have the power to strengthen our beliefs and hearts through exercising our faith in Jesus Christ even in the darkest of circumstances.

I am grateful for the plan that God created to give me the opportunities to grow and do my best and work toward changing my heart to become more like my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, so when I leave this world of limitations I will receive the ultimate gift of freedom; Exaltation.

Blessing and Love to You and Yours on this Day of Thanksgiving,

Tiffiny Ruegner

John 17: 15-19

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
