HGTV’s Property Brothers Make Tragic Announcement

The famous brothers have travelled to India to do some work they are very passionate about, and what they found once there has broken their hearts. Now their plea to everyone willing to listen and take action, is being heard globally..

Just recently, the Scott brothers announced that they’re partnering with World Vision as advocates to end child slavery. Drew shared:

“We have long been involved with World Vision. Growing up, our family sponsored a child, so we were always aware of World Vision’s work and the importance of giving back to our community, whether it’s at the local, city or international level.”

But once in India, the Scott brothers were completely overwhelmed with what they saw. Jonathan explained:

“My whole life I thought I understood what poverty was, but after visiting the slums in New Delhi, I realized I had based that solely on my own limited experiences. Seeing in person the thousands of malnourished people living in squalor, rummaging through garbage to find their next meal and struggling to survive really takes your breath away. I found myself struggling to comprehend how these conditions could exist in today’s modern world. It’s a sad realization that the many luxuries we take for granted back home have not made it to many areas of the globe.”

Drew chimed in: “It was difficult for us to fathom kids as young as four years old are forced into 3D jobs, and extremely frustrating to know that it’s common that their parents take part in this process, too. We were overwhelmed with confusion that parents could allow their children to beg in the busy streets without any clothes or shoes. Or they would have their kids sell drugs, or worse.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but to be there with the kids was an experience beyond words. We were often left speechless when we stepped into the living conditions of families and the daily struggles they all face.”

Watch the video below to hear the Scott brothers’ desperate plea:

“For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed Me, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me, I was in prison and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 And when did we see You a stranger and welcome You, or naked and clothe You? And when did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me.” Matthew 25:35-40

Please pray for the children in extreme poverty who are compelled to work in dangerous, dirty, and degrading conditions as a means of supporting their families’ income. Pray that their parents and caretakers would acquire safe work that would in turn allow children to attend school and experience childhood in all its fullness.

Out of all the suffering in the world, it is the suffering of the children that is so very heartbreaking, as they have not been given the opportunity to learn of their great worth. Good luck to these brothers and their endeavor to make a good impact in this world.
