Texas has what’s called a “Safe Haven Law,” where new parents can drop off their kids under two months at a hospital or fire station if they feel they can’t take care of them, no questions asked. One mother recently dropped off two kids – one nine-months, the other 2-years old.

According to KTKR, the woman told the firefighter that she got into a fight with the father of at least one of the children, who claimed to not want the children either.

Child Protective Services (CPS) is now working to find other family members who may be willing to care for the small children.

The Houston Fire Department’s Kenyatta Parker tells ABC 13 that they did what they could to make the kids as comfortable as possible during the traumatic situation.

They found the mother and she was brought to a police station for questioning.  No word yet on if she’ll be charged, or where her kids will wind up.
