Mom’s Not Surprised the Police Called About Her Son. Then His Friends’ Parents Started Talking…

I hate the phrase “free range parenting” almost as much as the fact that there even is a phrase called “free range parenting” in the first place. Eun Kim was shocked when the police called her because they found her son – get this – playing in the park by himself. Then came everyone’s opinions…

Mom's Not Surprised the Police Called About Her Son. Then His Friends’ Parents Started Talking…

“When I shared the story on Facebook, friends expressed disbelief and even outrage that Reid had been questioned by a police officer,” she wrote. “But I later learned others didn’t see any harm in what happened. And I was surprised by the reactions I got from several parents of Reid’s friends.

Many admitted their children don’t feel comfortable being left alone. I completely understand and respect that, although I did begin to wonder whether I was being viewed as less of a parent for my recent choices. A former teacher of Reid’s even expressed gratitude that the police officer was looking after our son’s welfare.”

Here’s a thought, maybe everyone should stop acting like they need to have an opinion on everything they ever see on Facebook. I don’t know where the line is drawn between “free range parenting” and “helicopter parenting.” I just know some people should shut up.
