Obama Does Still Want A Government Run Insurance Company

So, what word applies? Socialist? Nationalist? Marxist? Fascist? They all include doctrine where the government is heavily involved in the private sector, sometimes mandating heavily, sometimes taking over, sometimes competing. In this case, Neophytis Obamis pulls out his lyre and tells Congress and the country to dance to his tune

President Barack Obama reaffirmed his desire for the government to create and run a national health insurance company in a letter he sent to Sens. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Max Baucus (D-Mont.), leaders of the Democrats’ efforts to transform the nation’s healthcare system from a largely private one into one dominated by Washington.

A leading conservative critic described the plan as little more than a massive Medicare system, complete with all the problems and multi-trillion-dollar debt of the current Medicare program.

Other then the ability to easily print and spend money, what, exactly, does the government, particularly the federal government, do well at? The military can work very well, when there is not political interference. The Coast Guard does an awesome job. Agencies such as the FBI, NSA, and ….. OK, I’m out of agencies. Other then agencies dealing with law enforcement, military, and some minor ones, most others are masters of waste, political interference, cronyism, and not getting things done on a consistent basis, particularly ones dealing with social policies.

In the letter, Obama called for a healthcare bill that includes a public option – the phrase used by the administration and congressional Democrats when discussing a government-run healthcare entity. Obama said a Washington option would give consumers more choice and keep the private sector “honest.”

Who is going to keep the government run option “honest?” With the power of the federal government, and the federal ability to print money and/or take it from The People, who will keep it honest? What is to keep it from becoming yet another massive bureaucracy, there to serve itself, a bloated entity, long on intentions and short on results?

“I strongly believe that Americans should have the choice of a public health insurance option operating alongside private plans,” Obama wrote. “This will give them a better range of choices, make the health care market more competitive, and keep insurance companies honest.”

I strongly believe that this plan needs a FAIL! tag. Doctors are streaming away from medicare and medicaid like Lions fans at half time. Payments, when they actually come, are small and below actual cost. Dealing with government red tape is a nightmare. Prices for Obama’s government run entity would be fixed. What doctors, health care centers, and medical suppliers will care to be involved when they might not even be able to break even on their services all while dealing with the bureaucracies?

There are problems with private health insurance, and health care costs. Much like with the Community Reinvestment Act, Obama and the Donkeys are looking to add to the problems, rather then address the root cause.
