Colin Kaepernick has started a trend in athletics. Kneeling rather than standing during the National anthem is his way of showing his displeasure for the nation that he entertains. The flag is offensive to him. But his actions have been offensive to so many.

In a recent interview, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was asked about his feelings concerning the “Black Lives Matter” movement and the protests of Colin Kaepernick. He spoke about things that matter. Things like the importance of respect, hard work and dedication. His immediate response was, “I think all lives matter.”

Floyd Mayweather Jr. explained that his career in boxing has given him life experience. This experience has shown him the importance of looking closely at the issues. He explained, “It’s not right what is going on in this world on both sides, what I learned from boxing and what everyone can take in real life is to follow directions, follow order. Don’t give nobody a hard time.”

My personal favorite thing he shared was how it can be easy to fall into line with everyone else’s battles. He was here to say something crucially important. “I’m here to say all lives matter, you know, a lot of times, we get stuck, and we are followers. When you hear one person say, ‘black lives matter,’ or ‘blue lives matter,’ all lives matter.”

And to Colin Kaepernick he had good things to say. He began by saying that he respected the football player and that he was welcome to share his feelings in whatever way he felt most necessary. But, Floyd Mayweather added, “Kaepernick needs to try and get the starting job. Stand up, and get the starting job. That’s what he needs to focus on.”

And for possibly the first time in my life I seem to agree with this legendary boxer. All lives do matter. The fighter has received backlash from others in his community, but he isn’t taking anything back.
