Well, I think there are a couple things to remember. The American public had to willfully ignore much in order to vote for Barack Obama. They projected what they wanted to believe about him onto him and so, in a sense, they participated in the lie. They will be heavily invested in his success and be blind to his failures because failures will reflect poorly on them. This choice was a narcissistic choice. That will give him a decent amount of rope.
However, the real problem for Obama won’t come from the middle or even the pathetic minority Republicans. The rubber will meet the road with those on the Left who have been seething in helpless rage for eight years. These angry folks have so much pent up hostility and hope pinned on Obama that they are bound to be disappointed.
Obama has a very unmerry band of followers forced together out of expedience. Now that they are all competing at the trough, it will get ugly.
How long will it take? If Obama doesn’t deliver to all his major constituencies within 100 days, there will be war.
Keep in mind, though, that Obama can count on the press. They will do everything in their power to make every trade off look like a rational one. They will blame Republicans for anything that doesn’t pass. They will blame close-minded Americans and speak in grave tones about making changes incrementally so “all Americans can grow” with the progressive movement.
If you think the campaign was condescending toward average Americans, it will be nothing compared to what is coming.
As for the event that will cause the Obama light to shine less brightly? Who knows….. Women and gays already are smarting by Obama’s treatment. He has unions, big business (big donors), the economy, terrorism, potentially waiting longer than the left would like to pull Troops out, etc. There is a list of demands so long, it’s impossible to keep track. Gimme. Gimme. Gimme.
Oh and one other thing: Obama’s response to all the unfulfilled promises will be easy,”Ok, guys, that’s gotta wait until the second term. The American people aren’t ready for that yet.” With his royal wonderfulness projecting light beams from his glorious brown orbs, it might just work, but I doubt it.
