Ret. Sociology Professor charged sending porn videos of children as young as 8 yrs-old involved in sex acts with adult men

Why would anyone think that it is appropriate to own or share any of these things? A former professor faces several charges of sexual exploitation – and I have a sinking feeling this may go even deeper. From WYFF4.com:

Larry Gene Peppers

A Greenville man is accused of sending child pornography through file sharing, according to South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson’s office, and WYFF News 4 has learned that man is a retired Clemson sociology professor.

Larry Gene Peppers, 67, is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and four counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to Mark Powell, communications director for Wilson.

Powell said Peppers was arrested on Thursday by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office with the help of U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

A search warrant was executed at Peppers’ home on Oct 23, Powell said.

He said laptop computers and other electronic equipment were seized for forensic examination.

The warrants said that the material included video of girls as young as 8 – 11 years old involved in sex acts with adult men, and children preforming sex acts on other children.

For four decades while working as a sociology professor at Clemson and since, Peppers ran a leadership training program called SimSoc, short for Simulated Society, in which leaders of groups such as chambers of commerce are gathered for encounter sessions to learn how to better work within their communities. Peppers joined the faculty of Clemson in 1973 as an associate professor of sociology.

Peppers retired in 2006, according to Clemson officials. He is now listed as part of the faculty emeritus.

Peppers was released after satisfying bond that was set at $60,000.

This is scary on so many levels. First, he was a professor. So what exactly was he exposing students to? Was he exploiting students in any sexual ways? Was he showing any of this kind of stuff in class? I am sure that more will come to light as the story gains national momentum. In the meantime, this creeper is out on bail. Mamas and Daddies, keep a watch out for this predator – especially if he has a camera with him.
