Industrial accidents are the worst and some of the most unfortunate ways to go, for sure. But one man was saved by an alert co-worker when he was only inches away from death or serious dismemberment after his shirt got caught in the maw of a running meat grinder!
Apparently a man working for a larger grocery store in the industrial meat department was trying to dislodge a hunk of meat when he reached down into the running meat grinder and…
The man, who has not been identified, was trying to dislodge a piece of meat Thursday that appeared to be caught in a hopper a – tray that holds the un-ground meat – at the San Luis Obispo grocer.
Fire Chief Garret Olson said the employee’s sleeve was being pulled into the machine when a co-worker heard his screams and shut off the machine.
Olson says the man was a second away from suffering potentially fatal injuries.
Fire crews had to pry the machine open to get him out. He suffered a broken arm.
Man, look at that photo. His WHOLE body is down that hopper!
Yikes! That was a bad idea!
