A hotdog vendor near Ground Zero in New York City charged people different prices depending on whether they were locals or foreigners. Rossen Reports made an undercover video catching Ahmed Mohammed charging a local with a New York accent $3 for a hotdog, then charging the next customer, who had a French accent, $15.
IJ Review reports,
The cart’s owner, Abdelalim Abdelbaky, canned Mohammed after he accrued thousands of dollars in fines and reams of bad press. Abdelbaky spoke to New York Post about the decision:
“I fired him over it yesterday after I watched the news,” he said.
“He told me he charged the people $2 a hot dog. He lied to me.”
Abdelbaky also said that Mohammed had been, unsurprisingly, pocketing the extra dough. The price of hot dogs at his cart are supposed to clock in at a very reasonable $2.50.
He even let the unscrupulous vendor stay at his house, rent-free. Abdelbaky’s kindness went unrewarded:
“Nobody would give him a job and he came to me,” he said.
“I lost money now, and I lost some customers, so I have a lot of losses.”
The crooked employee should have realized this is America, where we treat people equally! Especially next to Ground Zero in the Big Apple, you don’t get much more Americana than there. Watch the unbelievable video below.
