It was not an easy recovery for Melissa. She spent three weeks in the hospital, flat-lining four times. Her face remains partially paralyzed on one side. When she was finally released, she tried to restart her life. Only 20 at the time of the attack, she went back to school. She traveled to Europe. All the while, however, she sensed a connection with one of the First Responders that night. It was Cameron. He also felt a connection to Melissa. In the Fall of 2012, they met up again unexpectedly when she spoke at a church gathering. They connected instantly.
