Whoops! The Obama Administration Demanded That Netanyahu Apologize For Comments About Obama. He said…

When the Obama administration gets a little bit of bad press, they panic and usually ask the culprit to retract or apologize for the story.

And this time around is no different.

After former Israeli ambassador to the United States Michael B. Oren published a piece in the Wall Street Journal, blaming the Obama administration for the contentious relationship between President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

With that, they immediately asked for an apology, but that’s not at all what they got.

Two days later, Daniel B. Shapiro, U.S. ambassador to Israel, reportedly called Netanyahu’s office to request that the prime minister “distance himself from Oren’s commentary.”

However, Netanyahu rightfully refused to comply. Instead one of his senior officials told reporters that the prime minister “had no intention of apologizing for anything Oren wrote.”

The official also expressed curiosity at the fact “that the U.S. administration is concerned about remarks by a former Israeli government official” but remained dead silent when former U.S. officials spoke negatively about Netanyahu.

For instance, the administration said nothing in October when an anonymous Obama official insulted Netanyahu by referring to him as a “chickensh**.”

Regardless, Oren also alleged “that Obama personally undermined U.S. relations with Israel by allowing private quarrels to become public.”

Take for instance the way in which Obama purposefully and publicly chose to not attend Netanyahu’s speech to Congress in March of 2015. Obama then later dismissed what the prime minister said as “nothing new.”

Netanyahu has never been one to suck up to the Obama administration even when he has the entire American mainstream media on his back.

The president’s strained relationship with Netanyahu is entirely his fault, as he’s been the instigator in making it seem as though he does not fully support Israel publicly.

Instead of asking Netanyahu to apologize, Obama should apologize.
