A Law Professor Says It’s Time to Extend Basic Rights to the Animal Kingdom: What a kook….
“Steven Wise leans to the lectern. “I don’t see a difference between a chimpanzee,” he states unequivocally, “and my 4 1/2-year-old son.”
“…Chimps have 98.7 percent of DNA in common with humans,” says Wise. “Both my son Christopher and your average adult chimpanzee obviously meet any minimum rational standard for entitlement to basic legal rights.”
“…What Wise is calling for is basic “rights of bodily integrity and bodily liberty.” This means the covered species would no longer be viewed by the law as “things,” says Wise, who equates legal attitudes toward animals today with human enslavement in the antebellum South.”
This is ridiculous to the point of insanity. Someone needs to shake this nut while screaming at him…
You idiot, that is a chimp, not a human being! Instead of wasting your time teaching it sign language, you should be be skinning it for it’s coat or frying it up in a pan! That’s what we humans do to animals that aren’t cute enough to fetch a ball or strong enough to pull a plow. Chimps don’t have any rights or any purpose on the earth other than sleeping, eating bannanas, and pooping all over the jungle. The last thing we need is a bunch of sleazy lawyers leeching money off the public representing a bunch of stupid, worthless, chimps.
