CPAC Update!

I’ll be doing a full blog post on GOProud (the conservative gay organization) when I get back, but I just wanted to let you know what went on yesterday. First of all, Donald Trump smacked down the Ron Paul supporters. You probably saw the clip on the news. Trump was speaking and someone yelled out,”Elect Ron Paul.” Trump just said that Ron Paul was unelectable. He said, “I’m sorry, but it’s true.” And it is true. You have to admire the loyalty of the Ron Paul supporters, but they need to give that dream up and just get on board with whoever our nominee is in 2012.

Trump also said he will decide by June if he will run for President. I’m not sure what I think about that, but he will certainly make things interesting. I think he is running. He announced that he is pro life. Why would he do that if he wasn’t running? He does seem to be pro life with all the babies he has with his various wives. As Trump would say, “I’m sorry, but it’s true.” Nonwithstanding his personal life, you do have to admire his blunt honesty. He said that he deals with leaders and business people all over the world, and he says the world is seeing us as weak and ineffective. He said they are laughing at us. It’s clear to me, especially with our economy and with Egypt, that Obama is unable to truly lead.

Yesterday I got to interview Ted Cruz who is running for Kay Bailey Hutchinson’s seat in the Senate. It’s on FTRadio. I’ll try to find the link to the podcast and post here later. But I will be doing a post on the interview next week when I get back. Michael Williams, our former RailRoad Commissioner, is also running for Kay’s Senate seat. I am interviewing him today, so I’ll be writing about him as well. But I will tell you now that I love both of them. We are blessed in Texas with great choices.

I went to the GOProud party last night, and it was a blast. Guess who was there? Michael Steele! Our former RNC chair. I got to talk to him for a few minutes. We talked about how important it was to let everyone in our tent. We can’t all agree on every issue, but if you are going to vote for my guy, you are my friend. But I will write more about that next week.

I also got to meet and talk to Donald Rumsfeld. I really can’t wait to read his new book and get his take on everything. Newt Gingrich also came by the blogger’s lounge, but I missed him. Rumor has it that Huckabee isn’t running for President. I don’t think Palin will, so we are looking at Gingrich, Romney, Cain, Pawlenty, and Trump. Did I leave anyone out? Michele Bachman? I saw Rick Santorum yesterday as well. He is also thinking of running for President. An interesting group to say the least.

Great speakers yesterday. Pat Toomey, Allen West, Mitch McConnell, and Paul Ryan to name a few.

Is there anything you would like me to ask Michael William? Leave it in the comments, and I will.

As usual, it’s been great to be around so many like minded conservatives.

Oh, I need to mention the “Craiglist Congressman” Chris Lee. I saw the picture on Gawker before the msm got a hold of it. If you are on twitter, you get the news way ahead of the msm. Anyway, I clicked on the picture and I was horrified! How embarrassing! How stupid! No one that stupid should be in congress. Thank goodness the GOP leadership made him resign immediately. One could argue that this is personal life and has nothing to do with his job, but anyone that would use such bad judgment should not represent us. When are people going to learn that ANYTHING you put online, whether in private e-mail or not, CAN be made public. It’s just the way it is. Always remember that.

Well, that’s all for now. Keep checking back!
