Obama Goes Golfing As Chaos Builds in Iraq

As his national security team monitors the mounting unrest in Iraq, Obama hit the golf course last weekend in swanky Palm Springs, California.

Obama Golf

I have nothing against golf, but now is really not a good time. Over the weekend, the violence in Iraq escalated so much that the State Department evacuated staff and put in a request for military assistance.

Meanwhile, National Security Adviser Susan Rice and her team were tasked with coming up with a plan to stop alQaeda linked terrorist group Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) from overtaking Baghdad…Some U.S. embassy workers were also evacuated from Iraq on Sunday while the president was out golfing.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest assured reporters in a series of statements over the weekend that president Obama was calling Rice every evening and every morning during his trip to get an update on the ongoing bloodshed in a Iraq and the measures the U.S. could take to counter the Islamic extremist group’s violent ascension to power.

As I often say: imagine if Obama were a Republican. There would be endless media hand-wringing–masquerading as objective news–questioning the leadership capabilities of a President who lets his advisers figure things out while he hits the putting green.
