The Return Of Bin Laden: According to the Daily Mirror…

“Osama bin Laden is to give another televised address to the world.

The announcement was made on the Arabic Sahab website which issues daily information on the war in Afghanistan.”

I’ve gone on record as saying that I think Bin Laden was killed at Tora Bora and I’m not sure recent events have changed my mind. Of course, if I see Osama on TV holding a Pakistani newspaper dated July 3rd, 2002 that will remove all doubt but somehow I don’t think that will happen. My guess is that either no video will show up or that al-Queda will take some old clips and will try to pass them off as new.

So why do I think it’s so likely that Bin Laden is dead? Because before Tora Bora we were hearing stories about people spotting Bin Laden here, there, and everywhere and then we extensively bombed the area he was in and **poof** he dropped off the face of the earth. There have been rumors that he’s in certain areas but there have been no new tapes or confirmed sightings since then. Now could Bin Laden have hunkered down in a hut somewhere with just 1 or 2 loyal followers giving him supplies? That’s possible but it would mean a total break from Bin Laden’s “normal” patterns. Before Tora Bora he was changing locations almost daily and almost always had a small entourage with him. So I find it hard to believe that he’s spent the 7 months squatting in some Pakistani tent, solo, without even sending out another tape to throw the fact that he’s still alive in the face of the “Great Satan.” We’ll see how this plays out, but at this point, I’m highly skeptical that Bin Laden is still alive and kicking.
