Yale Republicans host hilarious barbecue next to hunger strike

Now, that’s clever. Heh. The Yale College Republicans heard that eight graduate student teachers were on a hunger strike. They pitched a tent right next to Yale’s President Salovey’s home. They were on the third day of their food strike. So, being the thoughtful conservatives that I know the Yale College Republicans are, they set up a barbecue right next to them. They served barbecued beef, baked beans and corn on the cob. I’m sure they did this out of concern for their Yale brethren, who they felt were in dire need of a meal. The smell must have been maddening for these idiots. They were doing all of this because Yale wouldn’t negotiate a contract with these newly unionized graduate teachers.

I’m actually proud of Yale for not bowing to these commies on this. And I’m super-duper proud of those Republicans. In fliers distributed before the strike, the organizers asked others to participate with them in solidarity, urging people to “sit with us and lift our spirits,” and “[join in] when one of us cannot continue.” Alas, there was a whole lack of motivated Marxists wanting to join their cause. Everyone was over getting food instead.

From Breitbart:

Members of the Yale College Republicans held a barbecue on Friday next to eight graduate student teachers on a hunger strike over the Yale University’s refusal to negotiate with its newly formed union.

While the eight protesters sat in a tent next to University President Peter Salovey’s home, having not eaten in three days, the college Republican group cooked up a meal of beef, baked beans, and corn on the cob for the local community.

The hunger strike concerned Yale’s unwillingness to negotiate a contract with its graduate teachers, who voted to unionize in February. The union, known as Local 33, is a subgroup of the international labor union UNITE HERE.

The university’s refusal is currently being appealed to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), with the university reportedly hoping to hold out until Donald Trump appoints a new batch of anti-union members to the NLRB.

Asked about his reaction to the barbecue, Local 33 Chairman Aaron Greenberg told The New Haven Register, “I’m not really focused on that. I’m focused on making sure we have lots of water, make sure I’m healthy. We have a check in with our nurse this afternoon. We are focused on that.”

These asshats are furious with Yale for supposedly siding with President Trump because he’s not for unions, or some such nonsense. I might just remind them that Trump has massively helped the construction industry, which is union blue collar workers. Not everything is Trump’s fault y’all. “I think that is unacceptable. I think that is despicable. They say we have to wait, so we are waiting without eating,” Greenberg said. That won’t hold up for long.

This was a nice bit of jabbing by the Republicans. It was nuanced. I love it. Greenberg said Yale President Peter Salovey, along with “top members of the Yale administration and members of the Yale Corporation are deciding to side with Donald Trump over members of their own community. No, you dolt. They don’t want to be hamstrung by yet another commie union. Calm down and have some food from the nice conservatives outside. In John Hawkins’ New book, ‘101 Things All Young Adults Should Know’, he teaches in chapter 84 of the book, “There is safety in numbers.” And there are many Yale students eating food just steps from you… turn from your commieness and embrace nominess.
