Whoa! Ben Carson Threatens to Leave Party If GOP Convenes a Brokered Republican Convention

Please stand and give the honorable Dr. Ben Carson a round of applause! According to the Washington Post, several high ranking GOP delegates met to discuss the possibility of a brokered convention. Carson contends that such a convention would destroy the party and he is exactly right. Carson is hoping the report by WaPo is wrong, but if not: “I am prepared to lose fair and square, as I am sure is Donald. But I will not sit by and watch a theft. I intend on being the nominee. If I am not, the winner will have my support.” That is true honor and courage my friends. A rare quantity these days, to be sure. He went on to say: “If it is correct, every voter who is standing for change must know they are being betrayed. I won’t stand for it,” Carson said in a Thursday statement. “I assure you Donald Trump won’t be the only one leaving the party.” I guess there are honorable men still out there after all. My hat is off to Ben Carson.

From IJReview:

Following a meeting to discuss a possible brokered Republican convention, GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson is threatening to leave the party and pursue his own independent run.

Carson’s threat comes after the meeting of GOP establishment elite to discuss the possibility of a brokered convention amid Donald Trump’s continued popularity. He said in a statement:

“If this was the beginning of a plan to subvert the will of the voters and replace it with the will of the political elite, I assure you Donald Trump will not be the only one leaving the party.”

It is being said that nearly two-dozen establishment party figures are prepping for a potential brokered convention as Donald Trump continues to lead most polls. Per the Politico: “RNC Chairman Reince Priebus held a dinner in Washington, D.C., on Monday, and, according to five people who spoke with the Post, the possibility of Trump heading into the Cleveland convention with a substantial number of delegates was a topic of discussion. Some attendees suggested the establishment lay the groundwork for a floor fight that could lead the party’s mainstream wing to unite behind an alternative. Carson rejected this approach. “If the leaders of the Republican Party want to destroy the party, they should continue to hold meetings like the one described in the Washington Post this morning,” Carson said in a statement released by his campaign.” If these RINO elitists want to finish off the GOP, let them and we’ll all go third party and tell them to stuff it. If they screw Trump, Cruz and Carson over, then they will be turned on in a way they never ever dreamed of and will finally go the way of the Whigs once and for all. If the Republicans want a fight, I say bring it.
