[VIDEO] Petty Reason Teen is BANNED from High School and Discriminated Against

Wow. I guess I would have been expelled at this girl’s school, because when I was a teenager, my mom and I were always messing with my hair. I had just about every shade of the hair rainbow in high school. But apparently, we need to mess with kids and their right to choose hair color now. IJR reports:

Savannah Keesee

A Missouri high school student, naturally a redhead, recently dyed her hair “auburn” in order to make it a little different. That difference caught the attention of Savannah Keesee’s principal at West County High School near St. Louis.

The young woman told Fox 2 that when she returned to school:

“He goes, your hair is really bright. I said, ok. He goes, you need to call your mom and have her come pick you up. So I tried to go back today and he said I couldn’t stay because my hair was still the same color.”

The Garnier Fructis dye she used turned Keesee’s now-auburn hair into a school dress and grooming code violation at the school. According to the school handbook:

“Non-natural hair colors will not be permitted. For example, green, purple, blue, etc.”
Both Keesee and her mother hope that because the permanent hair color dulls over time, the school will work with them, rather than continue to keep the young woman out of school.

Fox 6 notes that West St. Francois County Superintendent Stacy Stevens would not comment specifically on Keesee’s case. However, he did address the policy:

“We try to work with the students to be fair. We don’t want them out of school, we don’t typically have issues with this policy. I think our students and parents are accepting of it. It’s been in place a long time, and I think it’s a policy that works.”

Seriously? So these are the real problems schools are facing. Teenage girls that are dying their hair NATURAL colors that occur in nature? Not bullying? Not drug use? Not smoking? Really? This is the most pressing issue on campus?

Give the kid a break. Time to re-evaluate, Mr. Principal.
