Obama Ends Border Surveillance Program, NOW We Know why!

Last week I wrote on how Obama had shut down Operation Phalanx on the southern border. There was no fanfare, it was just quietly killed. Now, we know why. It was too successful. This is an aerial operation that has been fully funded by Congress through 2017, but nonetheless was cut short by Obama last week. Watchdog.org is reporting that the program that was initiated in 2010 and that aimed to interdict drug trafficking and illegal immigration along the US-Mexican border, was inexplicably halted by Obama. But you don’t have to think very deep to see why it was done away with. It doesn’t fit Obama’s open-border agenda.

Operation Phalanx authorized the allocation of 1,200 soldiers and airmen from the National Guard to assist Customs and Border Patrol along the US-Mexico border. The program also used hi-tech UH-72 helicopters and other surveillance programs to target drugs and illegal aliens entering the country. It was one of the few things that was actually working down there. Can’t have that, now can we? I hope that President-elect Trump immediately reinstates the program along with the other measures he will be taking down there. This was Obama flipping the bird to Trump and an act of desperation to let in as many illegals as possible before Inauguration Day comes.

“Operation Phalanx” as it was called, authorized the allocation of 1,200 soldiers and airmen from the National Guard to assist Customs and Border Patrol along the U.S.-Mexico border. The program also used hi-tech UH-72 helicopters and other surveillance programs to target drugs and illegal aliens entering the country.

The program is officially terminated. When it was scaled back last February, lawmakers representing Americans on the border, from Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar or Laredo to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, were furious, Watchdog.org is reporting.

They sent letters and requests to Obama’s Department of Homeland Security begging them to continue the program.

Last September, Abbott’s office requested additional aerial observation resources along the Mexican border, a point reiterated in Monday’s letter. “Given the recent surge of migrants from Central America and Cuba along the southern border, we believe DHS should request more surveillance and security resources, not fewer,” Cuellar and Abbott wrote.

But Obama never responded. Not a peep. No explanation, no justification.

Watchdog.org tried several times to get the Obama Administration to explain why they shut the program down. But again: crickets. They’re not talking.

Obama and his goons have refused to answer any inquiries into this. He has now cut the budget for Operation Phalanx by 50%. They were already struggling with costs for the helicopters and personnel involved. This cut in essence kills the program and Obama knows it. He is trying to make the transition as hard as possible for President Trump. That’s just how Obama the commie rolls.

According to Watchdog.org, in the Laredo sector alone, “Operation Phalanx accounted for 10,559 apprehensions and 4,007 ‘turnbacks’ from March 2012 to December 2015. Phalanx was credited with seizing 12,851 pounds of narcotics during the period.” I’m sure that Obama thought the operation would placate Congress and not be successful, but it was.

Our 2000 mile border is dangerously vulnerable to terrorists and criminals. It is my sincere hope that President Trump does build a wall on the entire border and staff it with security and the National Guard. They should be given permission to shoot to kill as well and I think aerial drones should also be employed. Let’s shove this wall back down Obama’s throat and deport the illegal aliens in America and follow the rule of law once more.
