Fans Shocked After Dolly Parton Gets on Stage and Does THIS…

Dolly Parton has always been a favorite of mine. Recently, she was on “The Voice.” She was asked to perform and chose to sing her “Coat of Many Colors” song. It’s about her childhood and a coat that her mother made her while telling her the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors. Dolly grew up poor, but never felt that way. She felt blessed and wealthier than anyone she knew. There was tremendous love in that family and as Dolly looks back on that now, she realizes not only that it made her who she is today, it was the very best time of her life. You just have to hear her sing the song.

Dolly Parton

From IJReview:

When country legend Dolly Parton was asked to perform on “The Voice,” she chose to sing – in her words – “a sweet little song [that] means more to me than the others.”

In “Coat of Many Colors,” Parton emotionally recounts the days she’d listen to her mom tell the Bible story of Joseph as she sewed – and how, despite living in poverty, she felt rich as ever thanks to the love that was shared.

Dolly also made a movie recently about the song and it was fantastic. It got very good reviews as well. I think it reminds many of us of how we started out and that life is about far more than money and things. Parton has always openly spoken of her Christian faith – she’s proud of it. So of course, her choice of song was her favorite. It combines faith, family and love all into one tune. Rolling Stone reported: The tune was written about a handmade coat Parton’s mother Avie Lee sewed together for her when she was a young girl. Dolly was one of 12 children from a poor family raised in the backwoods of east Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains, Parton is now one of the world’s wealthiest, most recognizable women but remains humble when it comes to sharing her gift of song. The song will move you to tears and tug at your heart. I love it.
