Val Kilmer comes out of hiding to reveal his harrowing health situation

Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” section is an easy way for celebrities to get in touch with fans and answer their burning questions.

Actor Val Kilmer participated in the “AMA” and finally addressed the health issues that have been keeping him out of the spotlight.

Despite spending months denying that he had any kind of health problem, Kilmer finally admitted that he has been “healing of cancer.”

On the AMA thread a fan asked “A while ago, Michael Douglas claimed you had terminal cancer. What was the story behind that?”

His answer was, frankly, shocking.

“He was probably trying to help me cause press probably asked where I was these days, and I did have a healing of cancer, but my tongue is still swollen altho healing all the time. Because I don’t sound my normal self yet people think I may still be under the weather.”

Douglas had said that Kilmer was fighting oral cancer, a cancer that Douglas had also battled with and beat in 2013.

Unfortunately, Douglas’ attempts to gin up sympathy from the press and fans around the world, Kilmer took to Facebook and denied the claim that he had cancer.

“I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed. The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago, when I asked him for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat, which prevented me from continuing a tour of my play CITIZEN TWAIN. I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever.”

I can’t say that I blame Kilmer for not wanting the press involved in his health problems. Cancer is stressful enough as it is without the added bonus of being hounded by the paparazzi. Let’s hope Kilmer heals soon. Cancer sucks!
