Senate Decrees That “Climate Change” Is Not a Hoax

As Al Gore likes to bellow, the debate is over. The US Senate has voted 98-1 that “climate change,” as global warming is now called in light of it not getting warmer, is not a hoax:

US Senate Republicans joined Democrats and went on record Wednesday acknowledging that climate change is real.

The symbolic amendment, attached to a controversial bill authorizing construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline…

The 16-word measure states: “It is the sense of the Senate that climate change is real and not a hoax.”

The bad news is that the global warming hoax having been certified as real by the government means that the planet is doomed if we don’t let that same government radically reduce our freedom and our standard of living. The good news is that a fortune will be saved on research, now that we know that scientific questions can be settled by a simple vote in the Senate rather than by evidence.

Astrophysicists must be eagerly awaiting a future vote that will determine the exact size and age of the universe. It will also be interesting to learn from the Senate whether extraterrestrial life exists, and how life began on earth.

Having claimed the power to make global warming not be a hoax, maybe the new Republican Senate will reach across the aisle to Obama by proclaiming his presidency not to be a farce.

The only Senator with the dignity to oppose this absurd amendment was Roger Wicker (R-MS). Even global warming infidel Jim Inhofe (R-OK) voted for it, on the grounds that of course the climate changes; it always has and always will. Technically the amendment doesn’t specify that human carbon emissions make it be too hot out — although this is clearly implied.

al gore the end
Senate-certified silliness.
