Obama Throwing an International Temper Tantrum

A few breathless days ago, President “Peace Prize” Obama insisted the United Nations and all of our Allies scream into Syria and bomb the hell out of as many Bashar al-Assad targets as we can.

Then, Russia and China led the smackdown in the U.N. Security Council, “No attack for you.” Obama clamored for support from our eternal ally, Britain. Stunningly, the Prime Minister went to Parliament, came back with the “No” vote and demonstrated to Obama that maybe he should follow his own country’s constitution.

Here’s where the story gets really weird.

Initially, President Obama frantically declared we must act quickly to bomb Syria for their use of chemical weapons against their own people.

The only people actively supporting this without any real evidence and certainly no proof are Obama, Nancy Pelosi (who believes tax cuts are expenditures and must be curtailed), Senate partisans and professional wafflers John Boehner and John McCain.

Now, Obama says we can act on our own time, within our own time frame.

Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry cry about an unstable Syria being an existential threat to the U.S. and our Allies.

Then, Kerry makes the bold statement that Syria is not actually a threat to the U.S., but is now a threat to “humanity.”

Flip flops are flying from their feet in this wild spin-fest.

The UN is certain the rebels have used sarin gas in other Syria locations.

International media reported Carla Del Ponte, a former Swiss attorney-general and prosecutor with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), that there were “strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof” the rebels have used chemical weapons.

Ms. Del Ponte, did not rule out the possibility that troops loyal to President Bashar al-Assad might also have used chemical weapons, but said further investigation was needed.

The inspectors said they are “certain” the rebels have used sarin gas, yet the proof is not “incontrovertible.”

In other words, they have testimony and evidence but no real proof.

Stunningly, the White House response to this report was, “We don’t believe it.”

The White House also has evidence and no proof, but it’s theirs, so it’s good enough.

Yes, trained U.N. inspectors and investigators believe that rebels such as Al Qaeda have used sarin gas in Syria and all spokesweasel Jay Carney can say about it is Obama is “highly skeptical” of suggestions that Syrian rebels used chemical weapons. “We find it highly likely that chemical weapons, if they were in fact used in Syria – and there is certainly evidence that they were – that the Assad regime was responsible.”

The real problem with our President is, as many of us have noted over the years, his petulance. This was demonstrated again this past week when his reaction to reporters asking him if failing to back up his 2012 “red line” challenge may have damaged his credibility. His answer is shockingly immature and petulant, saying “I didn’t set a red line. The world set a red line.”

Treaties, judicial decisions and agreements do not establish “red lines.” Only political and military leaders establish the point at which such agreements are enforced.

Barack Obama, not “the world,” articulated the “red line,” upon which Syria would have a “price to pay.”

Our President is again passing responsibility for his own behavior onto someone else.

This must be very embarrassing to liberals and Democrats.

Answering the question of credibility, the President sniffed, “My credibility isn’t on the line. The international community’s credibility is on the line.”

America winces.

We have two problems here: First, there is no proof yet that the Assad regime used WMD’s.

Second, the President of the United States is throwing an international temper tantrum while “the world” mocks him.

This is not good leadership for our country.
