Trump Continues Gutting The Climate Church Of The EPA

As was promised, the Trump administration has begun the task of gutting the EPA. Trump is doing whatever he can to remove the jackboot of the agency from the throats of industry and frankly all Americans.

And it’s about time. Other than the IRS, I can think of no government agency or department which wields more power, and uses it almost exclusively to abuse the American private sector.

So when Trump announced that he would drastically cut back the authority of the EPA, many of cautiously cheered. I say cautiously, because experience tells us to be weary of campaign promises. Yet, at least as far as the EPA and the whole myth of man-caused climate change are concerned, he appears to be keeping his word.

In March, the Independent woefully reported that the word ‘Science’ disappeared from the “Environmental Protection Agency office’s mission statement. The EPA once proudly told visitors that a large part of its work was scientific research to help improve the climate and the environment. But those references have since been removed and replaced with a reference to things that are ‘economically and technologically achievable.’”

Well that is good news, for as we know, it has been quite some time, if ever, that the EPA had anything to do with science. Rather the government agency should have long ago been classified as a church, due its almost singular focus on the religion of global warming. And wouldn’t that be the ultimate irony, considering the left’s irrational fear of the separation of Church and State.

Dropping the word “Science” is not just semantic. It has a purpose behind it.

“Until the end of January, the website described that work as ‘science-based,’ meaning that it would make recommendations based on peer-reviewed, solid scientific work into what counts as safe levels of pollutant in water meant for drinking, swimming or fishing. But now that reference has been removed, and it has been replaced by a message saying only that clean water will be recommended where it can conform to ‘economically and technologically achievable standards,’” writes the Independent.

Translation: Gone will be the days of an EPA which can make up rules and regulations which only serve to persecute industries with performance targets which can’t be reasonably met, forcing them to shut down. This, for too long, has been the unwritten goal of the green radicals at the EPA – to shutter entire industries that they alone deem to be hazardous to the precious and helpless planet. None of which is based on anything resembling real dispassionate science.

But that’s not all – as the hits just keep on coming – which delights me. Just yesterday, the same Independent.com reports that as of Friday this week, “The Environmental Protection Agency’s Open Data Web service – which stores information on climate change, life cycle assessment, health impact analysis and environmental justice – is to have its funding removed and will no longer be in operation, according to people working on the plan.”

They also report that Trump will be signing more orders this week “that roll back protections on drilling and protections for the environment.” Protections? More like roadblocks. He is also expected to sign an order curtailing the often abused Antiquities Act that gave Obama the authority to make off limits, prime oil and gas drilling and exploration areas.

They say the orders are designed to “gut most of the climate change regulations put in place by predecessor President Barack Obama.” Well happy day!

I haven’t been entirely in Trump’s corner, but on this I am very pleased. Neutering the Climate Church of the EPA can only be good for America. We should the President for this.
