Every Time A Career Criminal Goes To Jail For Life, An Angel Gets His Wings

Liberals tend to instinctively side with criminals. That’s why you tend to get headlines like, “Robber gets life in prison – and a $4 package of socks” for stories like this one:

What started as shoplifting and turned into an armed robbery when the suspect revealed a handgun to a loss-prevention officer has resulted in a mandatory sentence of life in prison for a Daytona Beach man, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

A jury deliberated for about an hour April 14 before finding Dean Rockmore, 48, guilty of robbery with a firearm, assistant State Attorney Chris Kelly said. On Friday, Circuit Judge Margaret Hudson found that Rockmore qualified as a prison releasee re-offender and handed down the life sentence, Kelly said.

Rockmore was released from prison Jan. 26, 2009, and committed the robbery about two months later on March 29, according to court documents

This is not a man who is going to spend the rest of his life in prison for stealing a “$4 package of socks.” This is a man who’s going to spend life in jail for being a career criminal. Although they don’t mention it in the story, this guy has been on the wrong side of the law for 30 years:

Rockmore has a record in Volusia County dating to 1980. He was last released from prison in January 2009 after he spent four years locked up for battery on a law-enforcement officer, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.

This guy has spent his entire adult life tangling with the law and he’s only been out of prison for two months and he’s already shoplifting again? This isn’t a man, this is an animal, and he should have been put in a cage and left permanently a long time ago.
