Mystery Surrounds Couple Found Dead in SUV Near Home in Maine on Christmas Morning

Mystery surrounds the deaths of a young Maine couple found about a mile from their home in an SUV at around 3:30 am on Christmas morning. One of them called the police, who then responded and found both of them dead at the scene. The police are not releasing much in the way of details and are trying to retrace the couple’s steps that evening before their deaths. Eric Williams was 35 and his girlfriend, Bonnie Royer, was 26. They lived together in Augusta. Police are calling the deaths suspicious, which may indicate that they were killed by someone else. What a horrible way to go for this young couple.

From the Daily Mail:

A Maine couple was found dead in a parked SUV less than a mile from their home on Christmas morning under suspicious circumstances, and detectives are hoping to retrace their Christmas Eve steps to figure out what happened.

Eric Williams, 35, and 26-year-old Bonnie Royer, who lived together in Augusta, were found in Manchester just after 3.30am on Friday.

Police have not commented on the circumstances surrounding their deaths or if the SUV they were found in belonged to the couple.

They were found on an isolated dirt road near several gravel and sand pits. Williams was in the driver’s seat and Royer was in the front passenger seat. Somerset County police dispatch logs show a complaint was made at 3:34 am about shots fired in the same location. Autopsies will take place today sometime. The wooded and remote area off of Sanford Road where the couple was found is a few hundred yards away from the intersection of Mt. Vernon Road and Summerhaven Road, which runs from Manchester to Augusta. The road is a popular site for bicyclists and all-terrain vehicle riders. The police have not said they are looking for any suspects currently, but that doesn’t mean much. They were very close to their home, so there are a lot of questions here. My prayers are with their families and I hope that if others were involved in this that they are caught and soon.
