(NMP) Obama Continues To Question Republican’s Patriotism In Weekly DNC Address

Wait, it wasn’t the official DNC address? It was the weekly Presidential Saturday address? The man is a shameless, partisan hack

President Obama says political leaders in Washington should take a lesson on values and patriotism from the American people he met on a Midwest bus trip last week.

The president delivered this morning’s weekly address from Alpha, Illinois, the last stop on his three-day, five-stop sojourn that took him to Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois.

The lesson he learned: Democrats and Republicans trying to solve the nation’s economic problems should put country first, not party, much like the American flag-waving children who dotted the streets as his bus passed by.

“I think Washington, D.C., can learn something from the folks in Atkinson and Peosta and Cannon Falls,” he said. “I think our country would be a whole lot better off if our elected leaders showed the same kind of discipline and integrity and responsibility that most Americans demonstrate in their lives every day.”

“Physician, heal thyself.” Mr. Obama is the last person who should be discussing anyone else’s “patriotism.” Three words: fundamentally transform America. People who love this country wouldn’t want to turn it into something completely different.

You can read the whole campaign speech, er, presidential address, at the above link or at WhiteHouse.gov, as well as watching it. Interestingly, Obama filmed this same old same old weekly address a few days ago during his Big Bus Adventure, since it probably wouldn’t have looked so great filming it while in Martha’s Vineyard. He had no new ideas, simply more of the same, but he did add on a bit

There are things we can do right now that will mean more customers for businesses and more jobs across the country. We can cut payroll taxes again, so families have an extra $1,000 to spend. We can pass a road construction bill so construction crews — now sitting idle — can head back to the worksite, rebuilding roads, bridges, and airports. We’ve got brave, skilled Americans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Let’s connect them with businesses that could use their skills. And let’s pass trade deals to level the playing field for our businesses. We have Americans driving Hyundais and Kias. Well, I want to see folks in Korea driving Fords, Chevys and Chryslers. I want more products sold around the globe stamped with three words: Made in America.

So, he wants to give unionized construction workers short term (and high paying at taxpayer expense) jobs to replace the short term jobs they had (at taxpayer expense) during the Stimulus to fill potholes and paint bridges. He throws in the military to shamelessly appeal to people on the right, as most on the left couldn’t care less about them. Trade deals. Yawn. And a new one, selling American cars around the world. More union work.

And Americans can learn from Ohio. We need to start thinking about what we can do to help our children have a great future. Reform the behemoth that is the federal government to create the space so that businesses can invest and create jobs.
