A Grocery Store’s Badly Decorated Cake Goes Viral – See the Touching Reason Why

Kindness is one of the most important virtues there is, yet it’s a virtue that goes unappreciated in today’s society, so it’s refreshing and heart-warming to see someone exercise it. When one woman decided to buy a birthday cake that was decorated badly, she had no idea that she would make someone’s day.

Lisa Saber Aldrich, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, wrote that she asked a ‘bakery-looking-employee’ if she could write ‘Happy Birthday Mandy’ on the cake she had just bought at Meijer grocery store in Gaines Township.

When she received the cake back after a ‘long time’ she was looking the employee in the eye and did not look at the cake.

Aldrich therefore failed to notice that the writing looked more like a child’s scrawl.

The understanding woman decided that the slanted writing was ‘funny’ and that she would buy the cake anyway – however, she said that cashiers and a manager who also saw the cake ‘didn’t think it was so funny.’

However, after some discussion among the employees, they realized what had happened.

According to Aldrich, one of the cashiers then put her arm around Aldrich’s shoulder and said, ‘The girl who wrote that has autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her – even though she’s not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day.’

The big-hearted woman then concluded her tale with, ‘So I guess the moral of the story is that kindness is important!’

It costs us nothing to be kind of people. But it can mean everything to someone else.
