Liberals did not react well to Donald Trump’s win last night. Some of them rioted. Others cried. Celebrities vowed to leave the country. And in California, evidently they’re talking about… secession? Californians have actually begun pushing a #Calexit movement, so that California can formally leave the United States.

California is a blue state that is a hardcore Democrat stronghold. Oregon, Nevada and Washington state are all also havens for Democrats. And not long after Trump won, #Calexit began trending on Twitter.
Not only are people asking for California to secede, some are pushing for Oregon and Washington to get in on the #Calexit action, too.
Looks like California can legally secede for some reason. Interesting. #Calexit

One person came up with a name for this new nation and… well, it was a name that only a liberal could love:
CA, OR, and WA should either be a new country known as Cow or a Canadian province(also known as Cow). #CalExit

Legally, there’s nothing preventing any state from seceding. In Texas vs. White, the Supreme Court ruled:
When Texas became one of the United States, she entered into an indissoluble relation. The union between Texas and the other States was as complete, as perpetual, and as indissoluble as the union between the original States. There was no place for reconsideration or revocation, except through revolution or through consent of the States.
Specifically, notice the “through consent of the United States” part. If enough Californians wanted to secede, then it could be possible.
Do you think California should secede?
