Fox News Cancelled Fox News Show – Fans Stunned

It’s been a long run… ten years… but Fox News is announcing that they are cancelling Red Eye. I remember when it first came out with Greg Gutfeld… it was witty and incredibly funny. I enjoyed watching. In the last few years, I have been so caught up in research and work, I have not watched the show. I know Gutfeld left it in 2015 and that took the appeal out of it for me. I was sad to hear that they were putting it out to pasture. There are few shows out there like it… in fact, I can’t think of any.

Red Eye shared the same name as a publication by the Chicago Tribune. The paper sued Fox News to stop the name, but a judge shot that down. Ironically, both the publication and the show ended within a month of each other. The final showing of Red Eye will be this Friday at 3 am. Gutfeld is being nostalgic and tweeting on it. I don’t blame him. He loves the fans and frankly, I consider Gutfeld to be a genius. I truly mean that.

From Western Journalism:

After a ten year run, Fox News has cancelled its late night program Red Eye.

The news broke on Monday. Host Tom Shillue tweeted the same day that Fox News will keep both he and Andy Levy on for other projects.

“[A]ndy hosting 2nit-[I]’m back on Wed.,” Shillue tweeted. “More to say later-Tom and Andy still at FNC!”

The show will air for the last time this Friday at 3:00 a.m.

Red Eye was first hosted by Greg Gutfeld, who remained at the helm from 2007 to 2015. He has since created The Greg Gutfeld Show and also hosts The Five, where Shillue occasionally joins him as co-host.

He praised Red Eye‘s fans over twitter, writing, “salute to @RedEyeFNC fans who inspired us to do some seriously messed up s***.”

Throughout Monday, Gutfeld has revisited special moments in the program’s history and answered fan questions on his Twitter feed.

Host Tom Shillue and co-host Andy Levy are expected to stay on with Fox News. That’s a smart move as both of them are incredibly talented and gifted in their own right. Red Eye survived an infringement suit, an overnight timeslot and a host change… but losing Gutfeld took its toll and now it will be no more.

However, with Gutfeld, Shillue and Levy all still at Fox News, they are bound to come up with even greater shows. I watch The Greg Gutfeld Show and The Five. I don’t always agree, but I always laugh and that is what counts these days. Sad to see the show go, but very happy to see the guys stay.
