BREAKING: State Department Places Travel BAN On Americans [VIDEO]

Last month, American student Otto Warmbier was repatriated from North Korea after being accused of stealing a propaganda banner from the hotel his group was staying at in Pyongyang. He was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in prison, but after 17 months the Trump administration negotiated for his release back to his parents.

He was diagnosed with a severe neurological injury and was in a coma when he arrived back in Ohio. He died six days later on June 19th, the oldest of two other children in his family. He was 22.

And now, the federal government is tightening the rules that will prevent further Americans from taking trips into the communist country. Warmbier took the trip on short notice when he saw that it was being advertised while he was staying in China.

NBC News gives us the details:

American citizens will soon be banned from traveling to North Korea after the U.S. State Department announced on Friday it would be issuing a “geographical travel restriction.”

Heather Nauert, a spokeswoman for the State Department, said a Federal Register notice would be published next week and 30 days after the notice is published, the restriction will become active.

“The safety and security of U.S. citizens overseas is one of our highest priorities,” Nauert said. “Due to mounting concerns over the serious risk of arrest and long-term detention under North Korea’s system of law enforcement, the Secretary has authorized a Geographical Travel Restriction on all U.S. citizen nationals’ use of a passport to travel in, through, or to North Korea.”

But now that travel to North Korea has been banned, will it really stop any American that wants to visit, or will it prevent shady Chinese travel companies from sneaking eager visitors in regardless?

You can watch this piece from Fox News to see the argument over whether Trump needs to outright ban travel to North Korea.
