Ted Cruz Calls on DOJ to Investigate Grotesque Act of Domestic Terrorism

James Alex Fields Jr. is being accused of driving the car that killed one woman and injured many others in Charlottesville, VA on Saturday as two groups clashed on the street. Many, including Ted Cruz, are calling the intentional ramming of protesters an act of domestic terrorism and require it be investigated as such.

Cruz made a statement in which he called on the Department of Justice to treat Saturday’s tragedy as an act of terrorism.

“Having watched the horrifying video of the car deliberately crashing into a crowd of protesters, I urge the Department of Justice to immediately investigate and prosecute this grotesque act of domestic terrorism.”

He also called out the Nazis, KKK and other assorted white supremacists by name. He refused to pull his punches in attacking one of the groups creating violence on American streets.

“The Nazis, the KKK, and white supremacists are repulsive and evil, and all of us have a moral obligation to speak out against the lies, bigotry, anti-Semitism, and hatred that they propagate.”

“These bigots want to tear our country apart, but they will fail. America is far better than this.”

Now before we go any further, we need to discuss something. Yes, everyone realizes that even Nazis have a right to march under the 1st Amendment. Yes, we realize that they should not be harmed physically for their rhetoric. Yes, we also realize that BLM and Antifa were there and also created a toxic and violent environment with their acts.

That’s not what we’re talking about here.

What we’re talking about is a group of people who believe in white supremacy and one of their members becoming violent enough to murder a woman and injure others with his car. You know, like ISIS members have done over in Europe.

These people have no place in American political discourse, as their ideas don’t exist to better society as a whole, but to cause racial division among this nation’s people.
