Border Patrol sees spike in arrests of sex offenders crossing Texas border

Reasonable people can have reasonable disagreements on how best to protect the border and handle illegal immigration.  However we should all be able to agree that a spike in the number of sex offenders crossing the border illegally is a bad thing we should probably stop. As per KRGV-TV, 144 sex offenders were caught crossing the border from Mexico in the last five months, up from under a hundred the previous year…

The station, in a report Friday, said apprehensions in December included a woman from El Salvador with a 2009 child sex assault conviction and three sex offenders who were Mexican nationals.

In February seven sex offenders were rounded up near McAllen, Harlingen, Falfurrias and Kingsville.

Less than a week later another two sex offenders were caught. A few days ago two Guatemalan men convicted of sex crimes were arrested.

Early in the month, border patrol in another border sector in South Texas, Del Rio, apprehended two convicted sex offenders.

Agents could not say why more sex offenders were attempting to sneak into the US, but say they’ve been sneaking in through South Texas and trying to blend in with large groups of illegal immigrants.  Sector Chief Rodolfo Karisch says, “Apprehending criminals previously convicted of felonies, as they attempt to enter the United State illegally, is one of the many ways we accomplish our mission.”
