Frenchman marrying stepmom – and his dad will attend the wedding

Elisabeth-Lorentz-L-and-Eric-Holder-on-June-7-2013-in-Dabo-eastern-FranceThis is almost as disturbing as Woody Allen marrying ex-girlfriend Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter, who was only 19 when they clandestinely began having the affair behind her mother’s back. In the small village of Dabo in northeastern France, a 45-year old Frenchman, inconveniently named Eric Holder, is about to marry his former stepmom, age 48.

The Mirror reports,

Although the couple are not blood relatives, French law prohibits all unions between stepchildren and step-parents.

The couple pleaded their case through the courts only to receive a signed letter from President Francois Hollande last year reconfirming that such marriages are banned.

They finally obtained the right to marry from a local court in north-east France in June.

The prosecutor’s office opposed the decision but did not appeal.

Weirdly, Holder’s dad has no problem with the marriage and will be attending the ceremony. Let’s hope  the woman, Elisabeth Lorentz, was only Holder’s stepmom for a short period of time – not while he was a child. If so, it’s not so heinous. Just creepy and illegal.
