Scare as drone comes within a few hundred feet of Southwest plane just before landing

One of the most difficult parts of flying is the landing.  What you don’t want to have happen is to be buzzed by a drone as you’re doing so…

A drone came withing a few hundred feed of a Southwest Airlines jet on Friday as the plane approached Dallas Love Field Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Southwest flight 28 was flying from Houston to Dallas when, about a mile from the airport, the pilot noticed the drone near the Boeing 737’s left wing.

Air traffic controllers confirmed the pilot’s sighting, as they could see the quad-copter from the control tower, the FAA reported.

Thankfully the plane landed safely. The FAA is investigating the situation.
