Students Inspired By Fallen K-9 Raise Cash For Bulletproof Gear For Dogs

Though adults across the country are vilifying police, North Carolina kids are supporting those who put their lives on the line to serve and protect and have raised money to purchase bulletproof gear for a local police dog.

Students at Lakeshore Elementary School raised money in honor of Officer Jason Crisp and his K-9, Maros, who were both killed in the line of duty last year.

As part of their economic unit, “Team Maros” sold necklaces, dog tuxedos and other items to buy a vest for the police dog named Cyrus.

“Seeing the kids, how excited they are with the K-9s, it brought back a lot of memories of Jason and Maros. They absolutely loved doing stuff like this,” said Crisp’s widow, Amanda Crisp.

The students raised $1,500 — enough to buy a vest and donate $500 to the non-profit “Vested Interest in K-9’s.”

Kudos to these kids who walked the walk when it comes to supporting our boys (and dogs) in blue.
